Malaysian twins escape death penalty over identity confusion

Agence France-Presse

2009-02-08 01:47 AM

A pair of identical twins escaped being convicted and hanged on drugs charges in Malaysia, due to confusion over which one of them was the culprit, reports said Saturday.

The 27-year-old twins, R. Sathis Raj and Sabarish Raj, had been charged with trafficking 166kgs of cannabis and 1.7kgs of raw opium in 2003. But police had trouble identifying which one was in possession of the drugs.

“This is a very unique case as they are identical twins. Even the DNA evidence could not prove anything as the DNA could be either Sathis’ or Sabarish’s,” said High Court judge Zaharah Ibrahim.

“I can’t be calling the wrong twin to enter his defense. I can’t be sending the wrong person to the gallows,” she said according to the New Straits Times as she acquitted the pair.

The court heard that one of the twins was caught taking a car load of drugs to a house in suburban Kuala Lumpur. After he was apprehended the other twin arrived at the house and was also arrested.

“It is clear that the first twin who was caught was the only one who had access to the house. Therefore, it is impossible for him not to know what was inside the bags,” the judge said according to the daily.

However, she said there was reasonable doubt as to which twin had been arrested first. The brothers cried and embraced family members in the court room when the verdict was handed down.

FSA employee files harassment suit

REN LAFORME – Senior News Editor

A cashier at Goodyear Hall has pressed charges against the Faculty Student Association (FSA) and the Civil Service Employees Association (CSEA) Local 621 for unfair labor practice.

Dorothy King, a resident of Tonawanda, claims that three different FSA managers harassed her over a period of several months beginning in November.

“I’ve been employed with FSA for 11 years and these managers at Goodyear are so terrible now, it’s almost unbearable for me to work there,” King said.

She claims that she was written up and suspended numerous times for such petty reasons as bumping into a fellow employee and eating a banana while on duty, an action that she has seen many other employees do without managerial reprisal.

King also alleges that CSEA Local 621 Union President Robert Caine was aware of the harassment but failed to take action, even after King submitted several grievances in regards to her treatment.

“I’ve had five suspensions, five write-ups and the union [president] is not doing anything about it,” King said. “He would not submit my grievances.”

According to King, she resigned from her position as union steward after facing the initial harassment but was later asked to be reinstated.

“Two [union] vice presidents contacted me asking me if I would be union steward again at Goodyear because I have [over] five years experience,” King said. “I said I would only if the union would back me up and two days later I got five write-ups.”

She believes that the FSA managers in Goodyear have specifically targeted her because of her blunt nature.

“I don’t bite my tongue,” King said. “If there’s a break in the contract I will speak on it.”

According to King, the treatment she faced at work has negatively impacted her health and contributed to her recent diagnosis of high blood pressure and a temporary loss of eyesight.

King took her issues to the United States National Labor Relations Board, where the organization launched an investigation and helped her formally press charges against the FSA and CSEA.

Despite all of her accusations, King continues to work as a cashier in Goodyear Hall.

“It’s almost unbearable for me to work there, but I’m still trying to hold on to my job,” King said.

FSA and Campus Dining & Shops were unavailable for comment.

My conclusion : CDS is unorganized. Multiple managers working at the same site. One managers orders you to do A. Another will order you to do B, and the other witll order you to do C. Some of these student manages are stuck up people since they have the title “manager”. Besides that, CDS food are expensive. I rather spend my $20 on Japanese Food than spending $10 in CDS.

P0135 OBD-II Trouble Code

Brought the car to AdvancedAutoParts and borrowed their OBD-II Reader. This is the error code i got for my car :

P0135  : Oxygen O2 Sensor Heater Circuit Malfunction (Bank 1, Sensor 1)

Possible Solutions

  • Repair short or open or high resistance in wiring harness or harness connectors
  • Replace oxygen sensor (cannot repair open or short that occurs internally to sensor)

Replacing a oxygen sensor is gonna kill me.

welcome to zynine.com

After years of running on ASP.NET host, I have decided to run on PHP host because it is much cheaper, more flexible with lots of features (space, bandwidth, database) and there are more php OpenSource development. There are limited OpenSource softwares which are flexible for ASP.NET.
