Did you know that it is possible to print to University at Buffalo public cites printers from you laptop via wireless connection? Read this article to learn how.

Steps below were tested on Windows 7 x64 edition.

Step 1

Make sure your are connected to UB_Secure wireless connection.

Make sure you select Home Network or Work Network instead of Public Network.

Step 2

Press the Windows Key + R to bring up the Windows Run Commands window.

Type in \\iprint.buffalo.edu\ and click OK.

Step 3

A Windows Security window will popup informing you about a login failure. Key in your UBIT Username and Password in the format shown below.

Please remember to include ad\ before your username. You can tick Remember my credentials so you do not have to reenter the information again.

Step 4

You will see a list of network printers below. Right click and click Connect to the desired printer.

Here’s a list of the official printer names and locations.

Step 5

If Do you trust this printer? dialog appears go to Step 5A

If a No driver found dialog appears, go to Step 5B.

Step 5A

A dialog bog will popup informing you that you will need to download and install drivers. Click Install driver.

It may take a few minutes for the driver to be downloaded & installed.

Step 5B

If a No driver found dialog appears, you will have to download the appropriate drivers.

Eg. Lockwood printer on Windows 7 x64.

For Windows XP/Vista/7 x64, Download the Windows Vista x64 Postscript driver.

Double click the downloaded file to extract the driver to desired location.

In this case C:\HP LJ40x0 PostScript Driver

Go back to the No driver found dialog. Click OK.

Browse to the folder of the extracted PostScript driver. Click OK

Once done correctly, this dialog should appear.

Step 6

You are ready to print stuffs to selected printers, the only drawback is you need to release the printouts from a Cybrary Station or Release Station.

If you would like to add more printers, repeat the steps above. You may not need to login or install new drivers depending on which printer.
